As Chair and Vice Chair of the Greater Victoria Spirit of BC Committee Society, it is our pleasure to be part of a dedicated group of individuals who are working hard to bring spirit, excitement, and community engagement to our region.
Greater Victoria has been honoured to be selected at the host community for the launch of the Olympic Torch Relay! From Athens, Greece to Victoria, BC, the flame - lit by the rays of the sun - will travel directly to our community for the start of the longest torch relay in the history of the Olympics! October 30th, 2009 is the date set for the celebrations, with an arrival ceremony in the morning and an evening celebration at the Legislature and in the Inner Harbour.
